Pierce Bush Joins the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation Board of Directors
The Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation is pleased to announce that Pierce Bush has joined our Board of Directors. As the grandson of President George H.W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Pierce Bush, and the son of our co-founder Neil Bush, Pierce represents the next generation of family leadership committed to advancing Mrs. Bush’s belief that “literacy is the key to all opportunity.”
Pierce brings a decade of executive leadership as CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star—the largest BBBS agency in the nation—and will continue to serve the organization as President Emeritus while beginning a new professional chapter with Voyager Interests. His experience in nonprofit management, community engagement, and capacity building will further strengthen the Foundation’s ability to expand programs that empower children and families through the power of literacy.
Pierce will serve alongside the distinguished members of our Board of Directors: Neil Bush, Chair; Greg Garland, Vice Chair; Juliet Stipeche, Secretary; Pam Wells, Ed.D., Treasurer; Martha Carnes; David Jones; Mark Lashier; Steve Maislin; Ruth J. Simmons, Ph.D.; and Y. Ping Sun.
““My Ganny was one of the greatest influences in my life. Her compassion, humility, and unwavering belief in the potential of every child continue to inspire me every day. Joining the Board is an honor, and I’m committed to carrying forward her mission and supporting the incredibly impactful work of the Foundation that bears her name.””
