These events are incredible perks for being a member of the Ladies for Literacy Guild, a dynamic group of women serving as literacy ambassadors in our community, so please bring a friend or two and encourage them to join the Guild - or give the gift of membership!

Meet Our Recent Bestselling Featured Author

In conversation with Khambrel Marshall, H.W. Brands discussed his forthcoming book, American Patriarch: The Life of George Washington.

H. W. Brands is a New York Times bestselling author of more than 30 books on American history and holds the Jack S. Blanton, Sr. Chair of History at the University of Texas at Austin.

Two of Dr. Brand’s books, The First American and Traitor to His Class, earned him nominations for the coveted Pulitzer Prize. His latest book, American Patriarch: The Life of George Washington, is a biography that traces George Washington’s leadership from his early military career to his role in founding the United States. It follows his rise within Virginia society, his command during the American Revolution, and his reluctant service as the nation’s first president

*Arriving in time for the 250th anniversary of American independence, this is a masterful portrait of Washington as the unrivaled leader of his time.

What people are saying…

“First Lady’s Book Club is an exciting way to meet authors.  Each event is different in it's own way and gives one a ‘backstory’ view of the book being represented. Come join us and bring a friend!”
