Read and Rise

The role of families is vital to ensuring that children enter kindergarten possessing the knowledge and skills to be reading ready. Teaching families the importance of reading together and providing them the tools to do so are key steps in ensuring academic success for all students.

Through a partnership with Houston Area Urban League and school districts across greater Houston, we are cultivating a community of engaged and empowered parents in our schools through the use of the Scholastic's Read and Rise program. Read and Rise is designed to address parent/caregiver and children's literacy development by modeling activities that will foster emergent literacy skills and equipping families with the tools to support early literacy development.
